Windows 8 Taskbar set to auto hide

When the taskbar is set to auto hide, and you open the start menu, the taskbar will still auto hide. It should not, the start menu open should keep the taskbar from auto hiding (this is how it has always functioned). Just looks incredibly weird and out of place a start menu floating there not attached to anything.
