Intermittent instability with my Windows 8.1 64-bit

Sometimes hangs for a long time at startup with Start Menu X active. Problem goes away when Start Menu X is disabled from startup.

Also, I have option set to Auto-hide the taskbar. There is a mistimed take focus issue or something that causes taskbar and Start Menu X items to not be accessible. Problem goes away when I turn off Start Menu X.
